Classroom Teachers for Reception/Kindergarten English in PYP Program
Özel Bilkent Primary School (Özel Bilkent Ilkokulu) invites applications from suitably qualified classroom teachers to work in a bi-lingual immersion program in Reception (Pre-K) and Kindergarten. The program is part of the IB Primary Years Program (Pre-K to Grade 4), with 4 units of inquiry in Reception and 6 units of inquiry in Kindergarten.

The Özel Bilkent Primary School was authorized as a PYP school in 2012. The school offers an exciting opportunity for teachers to gain specialist training and experience in this prestigious program as class teachers working alongside Turkish classroom teachers to create an integrated curriculum which embodies the principles of an ‘internationally-minded education’ within a constructivist perspective.

The school seeks highly motivated classroom teachers with a strong sense of responsibility, wishing to work in a professionally demanding environment, as part of a team of national and international teaching staff. Ideally successful candidates will have experience teaching English to young learners whose first language is not English.

Teachers are in class up to 24 periods (40 minutes each) per week and ensure students meet the IB PYP program objectives. In addition, teachers are expected to be actively involved in the school community, including extra-curricular activities both during and after school time.

Required Qualifications:

For Reception/Kindergarten English in PYP Program Positions
Classroom teachers should have a relevant first degree, and a teaching certificate (B. Ed. + PGCE or state certification). However, in certain cases the school can consider those with a first degree in other areas, provided they have further EFL/ESL certification/qualifications, or an MEd, or relevant experience (at the reception, kindergarten level, primary levels).

Compensation:

Contracts run from August 2019 through August 2021 with the opportunity to renew, subject to performance.

Successful candidates will receive:
• an attractive employment package with a two-year contract, renewable subject to performance;
• salary commensurate with qualifications and experience, quoted in US Dollars;
• fully-furnished, rent-free private accommodation on campus (a fee is charged for utilities);
• airfare, airport transfers and baggage allowance at the beginning and end of contract;
• combined work visa and residence permit to reside in Turkey;
• additional benefits include Turkish language courses, access to the university gym, lunch provide at school.
